Recipe submitted by the Dyck family, egg farmers from Springstein, MB
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup whipping cream
1 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp salt
4 Tbsp canola oil
3 cups flour
Instructions:
Mix the above ingredients into a soft dough, not too sticky.
Roll out dough fairly thin and cut the dough with a pizza cutter into rectangles, cutting a small slit in the middle of each rectangle. Take one end of the small rectangle piece and pull it through the slit to create a twisted piece of dough.
Deep fry the dough until golden brown. You will need to flip the roll kucken as it is frying.
Rollkuchen is traditionally served with watermelon, and some families prefer it with corn syrup or jam. It is pronounced “Roll Kucken”.
