Turkey Monte Cristo Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:

For the casserole
• 8 cups (400g) cubed brioche bread
• 3 cups (450g) roasted turkey breast, chopped or shredded
• 2 cups (200g) shredded Swiss or Gruyère cheese
• 8 large eggs
• 2 cups (500ml) milk
• 1⁄2 cup (125ml) heavy cream
• 1 Tbsp (15ml) Dijon mustard
• 1 tsp (5ml) garlic powder
• 1 tsp(5ml) salt
• 1/4 tsp (1ml) black pepper

For serving
• Powdered sugar
• Raspberry jam or preserves
• Maple syrup (optional)
• Chopped chives or parsley (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the baking dish
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch (23x33cm) baking dish.
Cube the brioche bread and spread half into the baking dish.

2. Add the turkey and cheese
Scatter turkey evenly over the bread layer. Sprinkle with Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining bread
pieces.
3. Make the custard
Whisk eggs, milk, cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until
smooth. Pour evenly over the casserole. Press the bread down gently so it absorbs the custard. Let
sit 10–15 minutes before baking.
4. Bake the casserole
Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until golden brown and the center is set. Tent loosely with foil
during the final 10 minutes if the top browns too quickly.
5. Rest and finish
Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Dust lightly with powdered sugar. Serve with
raspberry jam or maple syrup.
